Art, Interiors and Poffertjes; a perfect day out in Laren

There are few places where art and atmosphere come together as beautifully as at ART LAREN. From June 12 to 14 June, the Brink in Laren once again becomes the setting for this much-loved open-air art fair, celebrating its 30th edition this year. Stroll beneath the old trees, browse the white exhibition tents, and discover contemporary artworks in one of the most picturesque villages in the Netherlands with this Weekend Tip Art Laren.

And while you’re in Laren, why not turn it into a complete day out? A few of my favorite tips, including a museum, a sculpture garden, stylish interior shops, and the place to enjoy poffertjes or the place to relax at one of the Netherlands’ oldest cafés.

History

ART LAREN is an initiative of Kiwanis Club Laren and is organized by the Art Laren Foundation. The event combines a love of art with a good cause, as the proceeds support charities that improve the lives of children. In 2026, the beneficiary is Stichting FietsVeiligNL, an organization dedicated to improving cycling safety for children.

The Exhibition

Galleries from the Netherlands and abroad present a wide variety of modern and contemporary art, ranging from paintings and sculptures to photography and mixed media. Whether you are an experienced collector or simply enjoy browsing for inspiration, there is something for every taste and budget.

Before your visit, take a look at the ART LAREN website, where all participating galleries and artists are presented. It is a great way to discover the diverse range of artworks on display and plan your visit.

Bonus Tips

Singer Laren

Combine your visit with a stop at Singer Laren. Besides its excellent collection and temporary exhibitions (at this moment Masterpieces of Le Havre) you can enjoy a beautiful garden. Café ‘T Bonte Paard

Step into centuries of history at Café Het Bonte Paard. With its traditional brown-café interior and even sand on the floor, it is one of the oldest and most atmospheric cafés in the Netherlands. The perfect place to relax after a day of art hunting.

Poffertjeskraam

From March through September 13, the famous “poffertjes stall” sits right in the center of the village. With its lace curtains, the cheerful calling of orders, the irresistible smell of freshly baked poffertjes, and the bustling atmosphere, it feels like stepping back in time. Eating poffertjes here is not just a snack—it’s a true Laren tradition. 😊

Interior Shopping in Laren

Laren is also a wonderful destination for interior lovers.

I mentioned it before but it’s time for me to write a dedicated blog about interior shopping in Laren.

There is always something to discover in our little village. So put on your walking shoes, wander through the white tents of ART LAREN, and enjoy everything my beautiful hometown of Laren has to offer.

If you enjoyed this post, I’d love it if you shared it with someone who appreciates art, beautiful interiors, or discovering special places in the Netherlands. Your support helps Woonlookbook reach more readers and keeps me creating new inspiration for you. 😊
