It is always difficult to find a nice present for friends. In recent years I have therefore often given an experience as a gift rather than a physical gift. Last year I visited with a friend Den Bosch for lunch in the center of the city and a tour of a ceramic studio. We loved it so I decided to make it a “weekend tip Cor Unum Ceramic Studio”.

History
Zweitse Landsheer founded Cor Unum more than 70 years ago in 1953. His daughter, Charlotte, took over in 2009. The ceramic atelier believes it is important to take social and cultural responsibility for the heritage of ceramic crafts and for passing on knowledge and expertise. This mission is supported by a team of professionals, students, people for whom it is difficult to find their place on the job market, designers, and volunteers.
Cor Unum produces ceramics designed by leading (inter)national designers, architects, artists and other creative people. The products are sold both in its own store and in stores around the world.

Collection
The collection is truly diverse and consists of vases, miniatures, wall plates, tiles, objects, etc. Many designers are at the basis of this collection, not only father and daughter Landsheer but also Allesandro Mendini, Roderick Vos, Arian Brekveld, Jasper Morrison, Piet Hein Eek and so on.

Guided Tour
The guided tour by volunteers started with coffee and some information about the background of Cor Unum.
Attention: no guided tours are planned for 2025, but there are open days/workshops check the website.
Walking to the floor to start in the model making department. Here you see how a drawing of a design converts into a three-dimensional model. How clay forms and how the clay is made suitable for ceramic production. You can see how the products are processed and how all imperfections are removed.

Next step was a look in and around the ovens, and finally we witnessed the glazing.
