Introduction

A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from Flinders, an online shop for design, inspiration, and advice. Thanking me for the interest in Flinders and reminding me that it is exactly one year since I made my first purchase. What a lovely email and I looked at my “Hoof” coffee table from the Danish Company &Tradition, the one I bought one year ago. I love their style, so I decided to start a new category in my blogs: “Wednesday Woonlookbook Favorites” and I kick off with one of my favorite brands: &Tradition.

About &Tradition

“Paying homage to Denmark’s long-standing design heritage, &Tradition bridges old and new by creating furniture, lighting and interior objects with timeless appeal. From reissuing design icons to creating future classics in collaboration with acclaimed international designers, the collection combines craftsmanship with creativity and shapes carefully considered pieces with purpose and meaning.
Always respectfully. Always made to last.”

chairs

I had already two chairs from &Tradition, the In Between chair, designed by Sami Kallio. I use these chairs if I need some extra seats at the dining table or in the living room. In the bedroom it is a decoration piece (and it is helpful to throw clothes on if I am lazy) and in my home office if we have a zoom meeting and one of my children, friends of grandchildren, is joining me, I use it as a second seat.

Every time I use the chairs, I like the simple and functional elegance (typical Scandinavian) and I just love the look.

The Formakami lamps are other favorites from this brand. I will describe these lamps in a later post.

coffee table

So, when I was looking for a coffee table I thought of the style of &Tradition and chose one in white oiled oak, just like the chairs. The former square coffee table was replaced by a round one and that generated a lot more space.

dining table

I had a matching coffee and dining table (second hand from my sister-in-law and I used it for more than 25 years with a lot of pleasure!) in a cherry wood style. A few months after the coffee table arrived, the dining table felt so outdated that a new search started; I was looking for a new one, about the same size (240×100 cm), and again &Tradition ended up in my list of potentials. This time in smoked lacquered oak, table SK6. (250x100x74 cm).

Around the table is enough space for my cooking club or my family. A darker color this time to get some contrast. The coffee table is wood, the dining table laminated.

Good catch
When I wanted to buy the tables, the shops were closed due to the lock down. Not knowing how long it would take it was a big advantage that there was a lot of information on the site of as well Flinders as &Tradition. A complete overview of the used (sustainable) textures, styles, colors. It helps you to get insight into the best materials for your home.

Every day I am happy with these purchases and that is why &Tradition is a justified woonlookbook favorite!.
